Could do better…

We were rather disappointed with the tiredness of the room (5th floor); long overdue an up-grade, stuck in the 80s.Room very basic, e.g. 1 chair in a twin room, no vanity mirror in the bathroom, telephone broken, … Room serviced poorly: bins not emptied, towels taken but not replaced, very limited toilet roll provision. Were moved to a club room on the 10th floor after two nights of being harassed by children running amok along the corridor, banging on doors, etc. Club room slightly better (2 chairs, newer carpet, same old bathroom). No working extractor fan in either bathroom. Breakfast ok, but don’t expect saucers with your cup. Staff are generally trying to be helpful but there is clearly a lack of training, customer care knowledge and personal touch. It’s like a steam train that runs anyway: this is London and the hotel is in a desirable location. Overall, it needs a full refurbishment and personal touch.

Mediocre stay at Copthorne

A real benefit of this hotel is that it's in a quiet location, so sleep was undisturbed by noise of any kind (and I'm a light sleeper!). However, sleep was disturbed by the TV which kept randomly turning on even though it was being turned off. Rooms could do with a major refurb, there was some mold in the shower room and the air con / heater unit didn't work well. Also, we were waiting over 10+ minutes for a lift downstairs but most were out of order or full of people so we couldn't fit, so had to take the back route down the emergency exit stairs which was a maze. Beds were comfy and the hair dryer was a nice touch and the staff were all really nice.

Didn't get to stay because of Storm

I contact the hotel the night before we were due to stay to let them know that due to the storm we we unable to travel from Ireland and asked could they rebook us for another day.. ( the girl noted that the room was prepaid at this point, and I said yes but as we are not going to make it you can release the room and sell it to someone if it's needed ).. but as I had booked through 3rd party the hotel staff were not able to help me with this.. when I contacted the 3rd party( hotels com) they told me that it was up to the hotel if they would refund or rebook me as the price I paid was not a flexi rate. I understand this but the reason for us not getting to the hotel was not something that could be for seen .. the storm caused such damage in our area that we simply couldn't get to the airport to leave the country .. I would have been satisfied with even an offer of a discount off our stay when we do get to travel again but the person I spoke with didn't seem to want our custom again either way
